Atlanta's Finest
Spas & Salons
by Julie Herron Carson

Blue MedSpa opened its doors in Midtown just months ago, and already has a loyal clientele benefiting from its customized medical and spa protocols. Miami native John Stupka, president of Blue MedSpa, says "My hope is to help each guest achieve a greater sense of wellness and balance. We don't just provide a one-day experience — we work to create a lifestyle plan for optimum health. Because we offer both spa and medical services, we simplify the process for our clients and are able to create a multi-talented team to achieve the desired results."

Clients can pick and choose from massage, facials, nail care and other traditional spa services, as well as cellulite reduction, laser and facial injectables. There are even special services for clients undergoing cancer treatments, as well as pre- and post-operative patients.

Stupka has an extensive background in marketing and medical sales to cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists and spas. As an industry insider and a spa client himself, he knew what would make the spa experience even more fulfilling. For example, Blue MedSpa has an unusual "no gratuity" policy*, eliminating the stress of determining who to tip and how much to give. Stupka has also created "valet shopping" where a guest can phone ahead to order a gift certificate or product and pick it up already wrapped from the valet at the on-side parking lot. Finally, even though Blue MedSpa is new on the scene, it is drawing on the talents of a beauty veteran. Richie Arpino serves as the facility's artistic director of hair and makeup, and creates his magic in the Blue MedSpa hair salon on Tuesdays and Fridays.

*Our policy has changed. Tipping is at the discretion of the guest.
