ABOUT BLUE WELLNESS
5 Shades of Blue

Creating your Blue Print for Health means taking a look at and becoming more aware of what elements create health or dis-ease within our bodies- minds & souls.  Health is defined as a complete state of physical, mental & social wellbeing not merely the absence of disease & infirmity.

In better understanding our health we must look to the elements or “Shades of Blue” that support this state of being, they are: Diet, Exercise, Rest, Mental Attitude & Environment.  The trick here is we are all made up of the same “stuff” and are affected by the same “elements” yet we are all uniquely different as to how we experience them.  Meaning health is different for all of us.  The best we can do is to understand the core information and assess our individual needs in creating a greater sense of balance and wellbeing in all areas of our lives.

Diet:  Information on this topic can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.  When in doubt remember balance your dietary intake and think “moderation not deprivation”.  What we put in our body matters affecting everything in our bodies from cellular function, optimal health and performance to the rate at which we age. Here are a few key needs to be aware of and their important affects:

  • Carbohydrates are like gasoline for our bodies, they fuel the muscles and affect all physical performance (should comprise 40 – 50% of daily caloric intake), complex carbs are the best, meaning they take longer to break down minimizing drastic shifts in our blood sugar.  Just remember: Brown & Green foods are good for our bodies & white  is bad.
  • Proteins build and support all tissues in our systems ranging from muscle to the myelin sheath, the protective covering around your nerves (should comprise 25-30% of daily). Just like anything- too much is too much, stay with in the normal dietary protein needs of your body because high protein diets do have their dangers and should only be utilized under the strict supervision of a physician.
  • Fats produce fatty acids which help control blood pressure, blood clotting, inflammation and support proper brain function as well as play a key factor in hormonal balance.  Note there are “good” & “bad” fats (should comprise 25-30% of daily), don’t be afraid to eat fat, just be mindful of what type of fats you are ingesting… your health depends on it.
  • Vitamins & Minerals promote & protect the proper functioning of cells within our bodies- they are vital to health, many of which can not be produced by the body and therefore must be ingested.  With over 95% of U.S. soils being depleted of essential vit. & min. supplementation is often necessary to meet the basic needs of our body. If you have nutritional questions or concerns, ask to consult with a Blue Medspa team member on the Elementals Nutrition Program and daily supplementation.
  • Water is critical for your survival.  Water helps to regulate the function of every cell & organ in your body.  Drinking 6-8 glasses of H2O a day really matters, performance improves & most headaches, joint pain, general malaise or fatigue are alleviated when the proper amount of water is consumed.  If your body suffers from a loss of even 4-5% of it’s water needs your overall performance will decrease by over 30%.

Exercise simply means moving your body in anyway you would like for an extended amount of time in which your heart rate becomes elevated.  You have heard the staggering numbers: 70% of our population is Obese, and over 90 million Americans suffer from a chronic disease.  Poor health is running rampant in this country and one of the simplest solutions is free to all of us, but often not done until crisis hits — EXERCISE.  Research shows that the benefits of exercise are vast, ranging from decreasing the risk of chronic disease to improving your skin and lowering your stress levels.  The great thing, these benefits are cumulative meaning a little throughout the day numerous times a day really does go a long way on your road to health.  I like to think of exercise as Adult Play Time.  Be creative; know that there are no wrong ways to move into health- just as long as you move!  So what are you waiting for- start with something, even 10 minutes a day and then 15; Create your own movement and play time goals.  Not only will your body look &feel better but you will help to lower stress and unlock your creativity. Mindset: The Mind is a powerful creator through our thoughts, choice & words affecting every area of our lives.  In recognizing the creative power of the mind you become more aware that in each moment you are creating your reality.  Here are a few quick tips to ensure you are creating the reality you choose:

  • What are your words saying about you? If you tell yourself that you are unhappy, unworthy, unattractive- fill in the blank, then you will probably find just that in your life. Be aware of your self talk and change it to “happy talk” positive internal dialogue, claim in the present tense I Am and see the You that you create~
  • Stress as a choice: You always have a choice so the next time you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed out- STOP, BREATHE and ask yourself what other choices you may have in your response that will allow you to be in a place of resourceful ease vs. stressed out and upset.

Rest , yes, rest -- I know that in today’s world we are not supposed to stop, enjoy the simple pleasures of life let alone make the time for a good nights sleep, but we are suffering from a national epidemic and must take time to notice…  According to the national center of sleep disorders, more than 70 million people have sleep problems.  Sleep is our bodies’ time to heal, replenish and revive from the inside out, no wonder a poor night’s sleep is adding to our rise in dis-ease.  If your body doesn’t have time to heal then sickness, fatigue and dis-ease will flourish.  How important is your health to you?  Your body needs at minimum 6-8 hours of quality deep sleep a night to carry out its basic healing functions.  If you have problems falling asleep and staying asleep throughout the night you may want to try a few of these pointers:

  • Deep breathing and relaxation exercises before bed(visit our Meditation Den)
  • In bed, allow yourself 1-3 minutes to review the day then LET GO. Running through thoughts and scenarios will only keep your body in a state of stress and overdrive; know when to say “when” letting your body & mind rest.
  • You may be a candidate for a Sleep Solution System.  For more information on types of bedding that may help you get a better nights sleep, schedule your complimentary sleep consultation today.

Environment: The air we breathe, the water we drink, the sun that shines down upon us are all elements within our environment that play a vital role in our overall health or state of dis-ease. We can affect the quality of all of these by engaging in some simple environmentally sound practices as well as looking to a few support systems that offer solutions in our lives:

    • Quality of indoor air can be directly improved by removing pollutants and supporting health with an Air System. Blue MedSpa endorses the Nikken Air system, the only system with patented Negative Ion Technology.
    • Car Pool, Ride a Bike & check for proper inflation of your cars tires which saves on gas and air pollution.
    • Reuse – Recycle, be mindful of reusing to save on energy and consumption.
    • Drink for your health- most of our water is filled with chemicals and pollutants that harm the body.  Look for sources of H2O that are pure and re-mineralized.  Blue MedSpa proudly serves and endorses the Nikken PIMAG Water system, the only ph balanced water that is free of harmful agents and is filled with magnetic energy for optimal health.
    • The sun stimulates vitamin D production within our bodies- it feels great and it’s good for us, but what about those harmful rays?  Those harmful rays cause early aging and skin cancer so make sure to apply SUNBLOCK everyday.  Blue MedSpa carries several sun block options that are free of harmful chemicals and irritants to the skin, providing you with top protection for healthy skin.
    • It is through awareness of the 5 key components of health that we are able to make better choices for ourselves enabling us to survive, thrive and flourish.  Knowing this empowers you to BE mindful  so you can make the right choice for you in creating a unique experience in rediscovering the true you as you create your personal blue print for balance, success, optimal health, wellbeing & so much more~
